Returning Slowly

It's been a long time, so let me try to get back into this slowly (which is better than not at all).

I saw a Long John Silvers commercial last night advertising "Pacific Shrimp." Is this in reaction to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill? (That is, we don't serve shrimp from the Gulf.) Or, is it just a coincidence?

I guess I just don't follow shrimp ads much -- so maybe "Pacific Shrimp" is a delicacy or something (found only at fastfood restaurants?).

  1. "Is this in reaction to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill?" Haha, this comment reminds me of the BP Coffee Spill video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AAa0gd7ClM

  2. Sounds to me like they're using the same ploy Wendy's did/does with their 'premium fish fillet sandwiches', claiming that the fish is north Pacific cod. So instead of eating totally unidentifiable fish or shrimp, the consumer is pacified with the idea that their meal has a traceable origin. I think in this case, Pacific means Vietnam. Most of the fish fillets in our local grocer's freezer are from the Mekong delta.
